Scenario Generator
The scenario generator tool allows a user to define a crop simulation scenario. It allows users to define the model, crop, control irrigation and fertilizer applications, and which geographic areas should be included.

Scenario To Campaign
The scenario to campaign tool converts data from the geojson output of Scenario Generator to the file formats that can later be used by other Easy-SIM tools. Future versions of this tool may allow you to combine different scenarios into a single campaign, but for now it there is a 1 to 1 scenario to campaign ratio.

Download Easy-SIM Soil Data
The Download Easy-SIM Soil Data tool, located under the 'Get Data' set of tools, will download soil data for your campaign. The soil is derived from the Global Soil Dataset for Earth System Modeling and covers a global area at 0.5 degree resolution, allowing you to run simulations anywhere in the world.

Download Easy-SIM Climate Data
The Download Weather Data tool downloads climate data for your campaign. The data comes from the AgMERRA data set and is global at 0.5 degree resolution.

Delta Shift
The Delta Shift tool, located in the 'Climate' tools, allows users to apply a future climate scenario to a historical Easy-SIMS weather using a simple delta shift. First, you will need to import a GCM into your history. You can do this by selecting Shared Data -> GCM Data Library. When you run the Delta Shift tool you need to provide the following options:
  • Easy-SIM Climate Data: The historic weather data to be shifted
  • GCM: Which General Circulation Model are you interested in using for your simulation?
  • RCP: Which Representative Concentration Pathway are you interested in using for you simulation?
  • Decade: Which decade in the future are you interested in using to shift your data? Decade 1 = 2000-2010, decade 2 = 2010-2020, etc.
Easy-SIM
This is the actual Easy-SIM tool that will run the model and generate NetCDF output representing the output of your simulations. It accepts as input a campaign, soil data, and climate data.

Easy-SIM Error Mode
The error mode of Easy-SIM aims to make it easier to troubleshoot problems. The output of this tool are error logs created by the crop model for a single point within the simulation. If the standard Easy-SIM tool output is empty, you can run this tool to provide some clues as to what's happening (freezing crops, planting too early, etc).

The Workflow
  1. Run the scenario generator. 
    • Select options for number of years in simulation, reference year, and fertilizer amount.
    • If specified, the total amount of fertilizer will be divided into two applications throughout the year.
    • Select your model. Currently the supported models are dssat and apsim. When you change your model, you may see the screen update the other options. The crops available will vary by model.
    • Select crop, irrigation, and planting date / start of planting window. This will be a numeric value representing Julian day. 
    • Zoom in to the area you're interested in. Selected a tile you want to simulate. You should see a new window open to the upper right that will give you more options for that specific tile. This allows you to change options spatially. Make sure your tile has valid options.
    • When you click save, the tile will turn from blue to yellow, indicating that it will be included in the simulations.
    • Repeat for each tile you are interested in. When you are done, click execute and a scenario will be saved to your history.
  2. Run the scenario to campaign tool to save as a campaign file.
  3. Run the Get Data -> Download Easy-SIM Climate Data tool to obtain a copy of all the climate data needed for your campaign.
  4. Run the Get Data- > Download Easy-SIM Soil Data tool to obtain a copy of all the soil data needed for your campaign.
  5. Run Easy-SIM with your campaign, soil, and climate data. If all goes well, the output of this execution will a NetCDF file containing all the relevant data of your simulation.
